We only use your email address to send Ask It Simply. We never sell your information. Ask It Simply never sees what you type into Instant Ask, the Tool Finder or the quiz: the Tool Finder and quiz run entirely on your device, and Instant Ask questions go straight to the AI tool you pick.
The website and newsletter
When you sign up, we only use your email address to send the newsletter and the free starter kit. Signups are handled by our newsletter platform, Beehiiv. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
How we know where signups come from
Our signup pages use a small Beehiiv script that remembers which link brought you to us (for example, a QR code or a partner newsletter) so we can see which channels work. It stores this in a first-party cookie for up to 30 days and passes it to Beehiiv only if you sign up. It doesn't track you across other websites.
The Tool Finder, quiz and Lessons
Everything you type into the Tool Finder and every quiz answer stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to us or stored. Lessons progress (completed lessons, XP, streak and badges) is saved on your device only with localStorage. If you clear site data or switch phones, it resets. If you use the "A+" button, your text-size choice is saved on your device only.
Instant Ask
Instant Ask (on the home page and in Tool Finder results) opens your question in Grok, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini or Copilot, whichever you pick. It never sends your question to us, and we don't store it. When you pick a tool, your browser opens that tool's website with your question placed in the web address, and for Gemini and Copilot it's copied to your clipboard so you can paste it. From there, the tool's company receives your question under its own privacy policy, and it may appear in your browser history. Leave out names, account numbers, passwords and health details.
The home-screen app
The Ask It Simply app is this website added to your home screen. It has no accounts, and it works exactly like the website, so everything on this page applies to it too. To work offline, your browser saves copies of pages you've opened on your device only. You can remove them anytime by removing the app or clearing your browser's site data.
Links to AI tools
When you open Grok, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Perplexity or other tools, you're using their services under their own privacy policies. Never paste passwords, ID numbers or account numbers into any AI tool.
Children
Ask It Simply is for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. The current version is always at askitsimply.com/privacy.
