We want everyone to be able to read and use Ask It Simply. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. We are still working on it, and we will not claim the site is fully compliant. If something gets in your way, tell us and we will help.
What we have done so far
- Strong contrast for text and buttons in both light mode and dark mode. We check this with automated tests on every page.
- Keyboard use. You can move through links, buttons and forms with the Tab key, and a visible outline shows where you are. A "Skip to main content" link jumps past the menu.
- Tap-to-open sections. Dropdowns open when you tap or click them (or press Enter or Space), not when you hover, so they work on phones, with a keyboard and with screen readers.
- Bigger text. Tap the A+ button at the top of any page. Your choice is saved on your device only.
- Plain English. Short sentences, clear steps and no jargon are part of how we write every lesson.
Our rule for video, audio and images
The site has no video or audio yet. When we add some, every clip will follow this rule:
- Captions on a separate track. Captions are off by default and you turn them on with the CC button. They are never burned into the picture, so you can choose.
- A transcript for every clip. Each video or audio clip gets a Show transcript button. It starts closed, and one tap opens the full text.
- Alt text on images and GIFs. Pictures that carry meaning get a short text description. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
Ask for help or another format
If a page is hard to use, or you would like something in another format (for example plain text or larger print), email hello@askitsimply.com. Tell us the page and what got in the way. A real person reads every message.
Known limits
Some links go to other websites, like AI tools, app stores and Beehiiv for the newsletter. We do not control how accessible those sites are. The PDF guides may not work as well with screen readers as the web pages. If you need one in another format, ask us.
